I know this may have been discussed extensively, but it is new news for me!
Well my local AD called me today to let me know they got their first 2 Deepseas this weekend and that I should swing on by to try on one of these new "fantastic and very fashionable" (direct quote) watches. I've had my share of different rolex pieces in the past and this one blew me away. Setting aside the fact that the watch is superbly executed (external bracelet/case fit and finish wise), and the fact that it can go almost 4km down into the ocean water, I must say, I am quite un-impressed. Not because it fails at excelling at what its intended to do, but because I felt it to be very disproportionate and clunky. A tiny dial on a gigantic watch that towers from my wrist as if I were wearing a Chopard tire gauge on my wrist. It also felt suspiciously light when compared side by side to my Ingenieur ( it may have been just an impression though). Finaly, can anyone read the dial by looking through the light mirror they put on and called a domed crystal? No AR for such a distorting dome of sapphire? I know it's necessary for the WR but the crystal kind of reminded me of those huge Breitling knockoffs with domed mineral crystals that distort the dial when you turn the watch a bit.
All is not bad though, the bezel (like the gmtIIc) is absolutely stunning. Congratulations on a fabulous new bezel design, and the ratchet on the Dipsy is very precise and pleasing to turn as well. Also, I love the blue maxi dial lume!
Unfortunately, to me at least, this watch left me with a weird feeling that something had gone afoul in the design labs at Rolex.

Then say "Guten Tag" to my new "Meistertaucher!" FedEx just dropped this baby off and I couldn't wait to share! It's an Oris Pro-Regulator "Der Meistertaucher" which I understand means "master diver" in German. This is my first regulator dial arrangement and it's much easier to read than I thought it would be. Everything about it is absolutely superb! The titanium feels different from the stainless I'm used to both in weight and feel. The bezel rotates very smoothly and the crown and helium release valve screw in and out perfectly.
The strap is rubber, which is a nice change from all of my diver bracelets, but I will definitely need to pick up a titanium bracelet for it in the near future. I was surprised at the quality of the rubber strap. It's very comfortable and smells like candy . Even the little roll pin placeholders for the "links" look like they're made of titanium. I was a little surprised by how big the bracelet was. I had to cut the strap down to the very last link on one side and the second-to-last on the other in order to keep the diver extension. I though I had pretty average sized wrists at 7.25" but I guess not!
The dial is beautiful and surprisingly uncluttered for having subdials. I think had I gotten the wave-patterned dial it would be different. Also, the regulator still only has three hands so it frees up some space.
The case is great and the finish is a very warm brushed metal with a screw down case back. There's not much more I can say about this watch that hasn't been covered elsewhere, so on to the pics!
