In the previous thread we were talking about larger AD's stock that is most likely tied
to price increase as well as weaker economy and US dollar.
Obviously I am well aware about inflation, increased cost of living, higher income etc.etc...but here are some numbers
that should make you think a little and sober you up just a bit
(I wish I could tie them to an average annual income for the given period,
but I am sure you get the idea and at least some of you will agree with me that
the prices of new Rolex are getting out of whack.
The following prices of Rolex SD and years are not exact but pretty darn close for illustration:
1967 - circa $200
mid-1970s - circa $400
1980 - circa $1000
1990 - circa $2000
2000 - $3150
2005 - $4700
2008 - $6175
2008 - new DSSD, same caliber 3135, improved dial, case & bracelet - $9000
....and BTW, when the new SUB with all this 'improved technology' is introduced 1-2 years from now,
don't be shocked if it is $8000 - $8500...Rolex is already buttering everyone up and getting you
used the new pricing craziness with the $9K tag on DSSD, coming out in a few months.
Well, actually don't' be shocked if the new SUB is also at least $9k because at this rate DSSD will be $10K+ 2 years from now
As much as I love the 3 Oysters that I already have ...I am done ;-(
....If I will plunk down any money for a Rolex watch - it would be only vintage.
Is Rolex still "going to sell every year each watch they make?" What are your thoughts?
