The new Bovet watch is notable first of all for the dial made of meteorite Gibeon whose ages is about 4 million years. 500 thousand years ago this meteorite fell on the territory of modern Namibia. The scientists found it in 1836 in the Namaqualand – the plateau on South-West of Southern Africa.

Consisting of 90% of iron, 8% of nickel, 0.4% of cobalt and 0.04% of phosphor this meteorite is one of the most solid – its density is about 8 grams per cubic centimeter. The piece of meteorite used for the watch was cut up, polished and processed by acid to reveal its natural structure.

Other features of the new watch are quite traditional. The new Bovet timepiece is housed by a case measuring 46 mm in diameter and 21.6 mm in height. Water resistance is 300 meters.

The dial of the watch is protected with sapphire crystal coated with anti-reflection treatment.
The Bovet Sportster Saguaro Chronograph Meteorite is powered by an automatic movement 11BA01 with balance frequency of 28,800 bph and power reserve of 42 hours. The autowinding rotor is crafted from 22К gold while the screws are blued or covered with red gold.

The new Bovet watch is produced in a limited edition of 100 or 50 pieces depending on the model. The timepiece is available in three colour variants with the silver, gilded or black dial. The case may be crafted from steel, black PVD-coated steel or 18К rose gold.

same here. i really don't know how to check the accuracy of my oris watch but when compared to a quartz watch, it is seemingly +24/day. (although i have doing observations only for the past two days).

should i be alarmed or is this okay considering that the watch is only about two weeks old. the thing is, if this keeps on, a +24/day translates to about 12 minutes a month and around two hours a year. obviously i can adjust the time but then what is the point of having a watch if you need another one to reference it with right?

btw, my oris movement is the 635 caliber with the day-date function.

Advice before purchase of an Omega

Hi,

Hope someone can help with following points:-

Currently looking at buying an omega, it will be to wear each workday and for daytime when on holiday.

Was looking at a Planet ocean 2201.50.00 as a sensible do anything/anywhere option

But keep getting drawn back to a Speedmaster professional, the Speedmaster questions -

1) How waterproof in reality is a 50m rating, this would only be for swimming and messing about in the sea (typical holiday things with family) – no diving or watersports, does anyone use theirs for this ok ?

2) The price difference in the UK between a professional 3570.50.00 version and a co-axial 311.30.44.50.01.002 is about $1900, what are the practical benefits to justify the cost. (the auto or hand winding difference is not an issue for me, 100m v 50m may be a problem depending on above)

3) What exactly is omega referring to when they say in the spec for the professional - Rhodium-plated finish ?

4) Service intervals being quoted from AD’s 3570.50.00 circa 5 years, co-axial 7 years – is this true in reality for the 3570.50.00.

5) Does the bezel suffer with black coming off ? (I am careful with my watches, so not going to get abused).

6) Any other practical plus or minus points to the two versions ?

The only down side for me is the co-axial has a glass back which personally I don’t like, could get it changed later though I assume - tbc

Will buy with stainless strap and also black leather, again assume that the strap sizes are very similar - tbc
